Cool stuff! The magic/religion of this world seems really complex and that makes me want to know more. Iām also curious about the characters. How does Maeve feel about being in charge? And why is Sev so angsty?! Looking forward to the next installment!
haha, yeah, Maeve has a lot of feels about leadership, and Sev, poor Sev, is my sweet broken soft boy who thinks he is a warrior. Raid is an exploration of these characters' personal traumas in an epic fantasy setting. The series as a whole is a constructive pastiche of the genre that delves into questions of meaning, faith, doubt, virtue, and the struggle for justice against various enforced hegemonies. But saying that way does take away from the fact that it is a hopepunk, epic fantasy adventure that I spent about 5 years doing the world building for it where our heros are faced with living through an apocalypse. Not merely surviving it, but living through it.
So cool! It reminds me very much of a project Iāve been working on, exploring many of the same themes. I am excited to read through Raid and hopefully share mine with you as well!
