I usually do not comment about local stories, but this one is just breaking my heart:

CARBONDALE, Ill. - A
Carbondale student athlete is dead after being struck by lightning
Thursday afternoon at a track meet. Corey Williams was an 18-year-old
junior at Carbondale Consolidated High School. he was walking toward
the ticket booth at the track when lightning struck. Now the school
and community are reeling from the loss (KFVS12).

A dark day for his friends and family to be sure, but this story has filled me sadness that I cannot exress. I have no connection to his family or community, but my heart aches for them and my prayers go out to them.

It is a terror when anyone days, but to have that smile taken out of the world. I mourn that we will never know what great things he would have accomplished. Please pray for his family and friends.
