When I was a kid, it was easy to find good fantasy content, you just watched whatever Jim Henson was working on. Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, or maybe the latest Disney movie, Sword in the Stone, or one of the numerous King Arthur stories…

Now, I just wait for the next season of Merlin or Hayao Miyazaki movie… I feel like imagination is in a state of crisis.

Every film or TV Show that comes out now is reboot or remake. The Studios are playing it too safe, and the publishers always have. Where is that new thing that will entrance me and make me want to stand in line to watch it?

There is a big difference between visually stunning and creative. Everyone who has ever been on a date can tell you that. All we have in fantasy now emphasizes style over substance, and the saddest part is that there rarely is any style to speak of…
