Out This Week: April 27th 2010
Out this week we have two DVDs to feature: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, G.I. Joe Season Two. Do we Love It, Rent it, or Avoid Like Plague?
Renter
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus: When a deal with the devil comes due, the immortal Doctor Parnassus must renegotiate the pact to save his daughter. Now, with the help of his mystical theater troupe and a mysterious stranger, Parnassus attempts to right the wrongs of his past. The Oscar-nominated film is Ledger's last, with Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law all completing his role. The reviews are mixed but Netflix estimates I'll give it a 4.2 so I put it on my rent list.
: Season 2 begins with the introduction of new COBRA emperor Serpentor. Newer characters such as Beach-Head, Dr. Mindbender, the pacifist Lifeline and Zartan's siblings, Zandar and Zarana, are also introduced, and Gen. Hawk is brought to the forefront as the definitive G.I. Joe leader. I watched G.I. Joe growing up so this will be neat watching the show now that I have grown up.
