Joan Jet on eMusic
When I saw that eMusic had added Joan Jet and the Black Hearts, I was transported instantly to the smoky pool halls I used to spend all my time in. At that time, I lived off of the jukebox and rarely went anywhere that didn't have one. For pool, there were two essentials that I had to hear: Prince and Joan Jet.
While they have not added her full catalog, they did add some of my absolute favorite songs.
Bad Reputation
Bad Reputation A great track filled with rebellion and strength. This is one of those songs that helped me through the darkest days of my life when rumors about me flowed like water in a flood. The only thing I could do was sing along and let my cares slip away.
You don't own me A classic Leslie Gore song that I frankly cannot get enough of. I must own 3 or 4 versions of it. This song is for those times when you are either in a bad relationship, or you are being harassed by bad memories. Any song about strength and standing up for yourself is a must to have on you at all times.
I Love Rock n' Roll
I Love Rock n' Roll Is there a more classic rock and roll anthem? Aside from a few songs by Kiss that I can think of, this is one of those songs that kicks into gear with a tight hook and exemplifies the spirit of Rock.
Crimson and Clover One of the most beautiful covers. Touching and beautiful, this is probably one of Joan Jet's best known song. I am always glad to hear it come up on my mix.
Louie Louie Instant party. While there is never anything to compare to the original, but this is a great cover.
I hope they add some of her other albums. I have been thinking about "I hate Myself for Loving You" and "Little Liar." It was great to re acquaint myself with Joan Jet's music.
