Universal's War With Vampires

Here is something that has potential to be a good film. Universal has picked up "The Knights Templar" an action script described as...

the knights, fresh from the Crusades, fend off an invading vampire army seeking to destroy the Holy Grail.

The idea sounds only slightly interesting since vampires have been done a lot lately. The idea of using Crusaders as heroes is also difficult to swallow at first because the current day political situation associates a negative image with them. That being said putting them against vampires does help to pull both of them out of their less appealing light.

Another plus going for the project is that they purchased the script for Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov. Who has demonstrated his keen eye and talent for handling material of this nature with his "Night Watch" movies.
