My name is Charlie, but if your looking for my work, I go by C. E. Dorsett. I write scifi, fantasy, and a touch of horror. I like to play with gothic, steampunk, decopunk, epic fantasy, and wuxia. I love to tell stories and talk about books, movies, series, and music.
The Keeper claims the Seeker
The story began on the Ausiello files @ EW.com:
Hey, fans of Legend of the Seeker: You know that 11th hour stay of execution you were hoping for? Well, you can stop hoping now — I’m hearing from multiple sources that the cult fave has been axed.
And the veil cracked. Demons of doubt and worry scurried into Twitter to herald the Keeper's victory over the Seeker. Then Bridget Regan gave the rumor legs:
Then her twitter went silent.
Can we find the Stone of Tears in time?
If Sam Rami were smart, and ABC has indeed canceled the series, he will produce season 3 like he did season 1: without the destructive influence of ABC on the show.
Legend of the Seeker started as a fresh and fun series. Season two then adopted many of the clichés and tropes of fantasy television a mainstream media demands. The show was better before ABC and can recapture its former glory.
It is important to note, neither ABC nor the official Seeker site have confirmed that the series has been canceled. If this is the end of the series, today is a sad day for Seeker fans.
Wake up Rami! Free the Seeker! Defeat the Keeper! Get back on the path to greatness!
If I Close My Eyes Forever
It's funny how music can touch you in such a deep way. I was sitting at my desk listening to music, and "If I close my eyes forever" by Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne came on. I know what the song is really about, but it resonated in me intensifying my feelings of confusion, and focusing me on the future.
Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy?
Baby, I get so scared inside and I don't really understand Is it love that's on my mind or is it fantasy? Heaven, is in the palm of my hand and it's waiting here for you What am I supposed to do with a childhood tragedy?
The future is the topic de jour at the HQ lately. We have a lot of plans, hopes and dreams, and we are trying to find ways to make them a reality.
I have written stories since I was in the second grade. In fact, when I was in the third grade, I wrote the third and fourth grade plays. I even wrote the commencement for my fifth grade graduation. In sixth grade, I started my first novel. I wrote my second and third in high school, and my fourth after graduation. Liquid Sky was my sixth.
I know what I want to do with my life. I always have. I know a lot of you feel the same way. We talk in email about your dreams and ambitions, and how to achieve them. That is the real problem.
Heaven, is in the palm of my hand
That line is literally true for me. Writing is my heaven! I fall into my stories. I feel the characters highs and lows. It might be impossible for me to call myself a great writer, but the letters I get about my books show me that they do the most important thing: They connect with readers.
Isn't that what we are all wanting?
- To connect with others.
- To feel like we are alive.
We need to find ways to help each others dreams come true. To keep our dreams alive!
Sometimes, its hard to hold on
Sometimes, its hard to hold on, so hard to hold on to my dreams It isn't always what it seems when you're face to face with me Like a dagger you stick me in the heart and taste the blood from my blade And when we sleep would you shelter me in your warm and darkened grave?
It isn't always easy to hold on to our dreams. The reality of what it takes to achieve our goals can be daunting.
If I had known when I started writing I would be plunged into convention politics and foisted into a position of leadership in a GLBT fan group, I probably would have stopped. Honestly, sometimes, the thought still overwhelms me.
I have to remember: this is about more than just me. The group needs an advocate, and if it is not me, then who will it be?
Realizing our dreams/following our bliss is a full-time job. Most of us already have one of those, and it is not easy to add on a second. We have to remind ourselves that we are worth it.
Taste the blood from my blade
The harder it is to live our passions, the more important it is to do!
Life thrives on the survival of the fittest. When we get knocked down, we can either stay down, or bounce back fighting. Stand up, laugh at the pain, taste the blood on the blade! That is your life blood. No one can take it from you without a fight.
Be proud of your dreams! They course through your veins for a reason. Passion is life. If you feel like you have lost your passion, you are wrong. Someone took it from you. You need to take it back
Would it all remain unchanged?
If I close my eyes forever Would it all remain unchanged? If I close my eyes forever Would it all remain the same?
If you close your eyes, and leave your passions to the mercies of others, don't be surprised by the vacuum it leaves in your life.
Wake up! Find some friends who have opened their eyes too (or help them to open theirs) and start moving forward.
The one who leaves the pack is always the one the predators come for, so build yourself another pack. If your friends put you down, find new friends. Find a community where people will support you. You deserve the best life has to offer. Hunt it out!
Wipe the cobwebs from my eyes
I know I've been so hard on you I know I've told you lies If I could have just one more wish I'd wipe the cobwebs from my eyes
Standing strong, we have to move past the lies we told ourselves. It is time to walk forward. We can get where we need to go together.
With eyes wide open
- What is your heaven?
- What challenges do you face?
- How can we help?

Review: Legend of the Seeker 118 Mirror
All is not what it seems when two opportunistic thieves use magic to disguise themselves as Richard and Kahlan, and plot to steal the sword of truth. Watch the episode streaming online above.
This was a delightful, hilarious yet balanced, episode of Legend of the Seeker that maintained a perfect immaculate reality. Even through all of the silly humor all of the events, characters, and setting elements fit and did not betray the story.
The theme of identity returns as the tension in this episode. What would happen if the impostors did bad things to the people of the midlands impuning the good name of the Seeker and the Confessor. What if Darken Rahl catches the fakes and breaks them getting them to do things in Rahl's name. There is also the danger of what if Richard or Kahlan in an intimate moment allows themselves to forget who they are and the real dangers that would occur if they gave in to their desires.
Are the two thieves married? what do you think?
We get introduced to another powerful magic item the magic mirror aka Montrass Mirror. This mirror is able to physically change someone into another who has previously looked into the mirror. This items history is a sad one where the sorcerer who created it wanted to capture the image of his dying wife and have her with him forever. What did you think of Zedd’s comment "sometimes I think there is entirely to much magic in the world." Is this a portent of something to come?

- Mirror is Hilarious, funny, ROFLMAO episode
- Bianca’s outfit
- The burning ring of fire looked so cool especially seeing it come from Bianca
- The double entendre is deliciously thick.
- the choreography of the fight scenes were so well done: Richard lacking strength to fight properly against the D'Harans without his sword.
- The gay soldier
- The acting was amazing: Bridget Regan and Craig Horner when acting as the impostors mimicked even the subtle elements of Clayre and Frytss. Their body language, facial expression, and turn of phrase changes
- Bianca / Zedd : LMAO that was so funny
- Zedd!!!!! Zedd is back and I love how he saw right through their disguises and set up a trap.
- I really enjoyed the scene of Richards temptation. The expression on his face when looking upon a naked Kahlan was that of a starving man looking at an 8 course banquet at a 5 star restaurant.
Dislikes / Concerns
- Didn’t really care for the effect for the mirror it was kind of cliche not bad just not up to the high standard set throughout this series and even this episode. (minor grumble)
- “how any one gets around with these things on them is entirely beyond me.”
- “You might be the one true seeker but your not very much fun”
- “I warn you he’s well armed.” / “You know I like a well equipped soldier”
- “I was distracted.” / “By a naked woman you went swimming with.” / “I thought It was you.”
- “I would have to be a few tomatoes short of a salad to walk down that garden path again.”
- “I got my foot caught in a hunters trap”
- “Hope for your sake that she is a better hunters trap then a cook”

Legend of the Seeker: Darken Rahl and Hitler
I commented on the relationship between Darken Rahl and Hitler on our podcast, The Confessed, and seek77 had an interesting comment:
hey there!! i love ur podcast, in fact im listening to it right now (3rd episode) and i have to say, i agree with u guys in almost everything. I wanted to write to u guys to correct u in just one minor big detail, not that related to LoTS but to Hitler.... i am part of the Richard & Kahlan forum and i was the one that agreed with you guys about how Darken Rahl is similar to Hitler... well in podcast u mentioned how Hitler's mom had a lot of husbands and one was jewish, etc. I have always been interested in the Holocaust and i had to study Hitler's life and well u made a mistake. Hitler loved his mom and hated his dad. His dad abused him but he wasnt jewish, he was raised by a jewish family and he used that excused to hate them. it was his father the one that had more than one wife, the mother had (not sure) just one husband... Now going back to LoTS/ Wizard's First Rule. Darken Rahl always talked about his father and how much he loved him in the book, that hasnt been mentioned in the show at all.... which i think its ok because that would make the show more complicated.
anyways, sorry this comment is so long!!! besides that i thing u guys are doing an AMAZING job here! i think u guys analyze things in a new and refreshing way, please keep doing it!
P.S eden was great!! i lover her input in the show, glad to have a girl in the show!
Thank you so much for the clarity on Hitler's youth. I like long comments, especially when they are so insightful. I was basing my comments on what I had been taught in school, and it is good to have the a better understanding of one of the most interesting villains in the history of our world.
Let me clarify what I was trying to say about the parallel between Hitler and Darken Rahl.
Personal Problems Writ Large
Hitler's childhood caused him to hate the Jewish people, that hate caused him to start the Holocaust.
Darken Rahl hates the lack of peace in soul.
- He would do anything to find peace in himself.
- His inner turmoil is feed by the lack of peace in the world.
- If there is peace in the world, that could (in his mind) bring peace to himself.
- He will do anything to bring about peace in the world.
In both of these men, what we see is personal internal struggles being fought in the outside world.
Boxes of Orden and the Confessor's Power
This is why Rahl is obsessed with the Boxes of Orden and gaining the powers of a Confessor. These powers to control others is emblematic of the power he wants to have over his own inner turmoil.
If he can gain these powers, he thinks he can bring peace to the world and to himself.
Rahl and his father
While the relationship between Rahl and his father has yet to be mentioned on the show, I have hopes that it still might be.
...for not giving any spoilers from the books. I try to do that, and I am glad that you did too.
And thank you for the kind words and about the show. Eden is a valuable part of the podcasts, and I just know she is going to blush beet red when she sees your comment.
We will keep doing our part, and as always, thank you for you all for all of your insightful comments.
