How not to flirt online
This is from an old article, Foolproof Online Dating Tips for Desperate Guys, but I dug it up recently and it still makes me laugh. It's by Lore Sjöberg, a columnist for Wired.
Here's a sample:
You know what's great? Chivalry. Chivalry is great. A long time ago a bunch of guys with horses and swords made up a bunch of rules about how to treat women. If you follow these rules with a woman you like, then she's obligated to like you back. It's the rules! You'll want to watch some movies and play a role-playing game or two to pick up the details, but the most important one is to always call her "milady." There's no better way to say, "I am not the humongous dork everyone thinks I am."
And I can say with full honesty that I've been guilty of at least one of these practices.

Comment by cedorsett on September 5, 2008 at 11:10am - I am sure that anything with a sword or a heraldic banner would work on a lady from the SCA, so long as you could hold your own in a bardic circle. This reminds me of the Leslie Fish song, Not the Way to get laid (getlaid.mp3).
