sci-fi is used to represent several different things depending on the speaker and audience, lol, it's why I wanted to clarify. This is a communication issue and it waters down the genera making it meaningless. I took up Harlan Ellison's position and became more careful with the words. I love science fiction and sci-fi and do not want them to become meaningless.
Basically, Science Fiction the science is integral to the plot and at least theoretically correct (Star Trek Next Generation, Babylon 5, Isac Asimov). Sci-fi is more about the story and the science takes a lower priority (BSG, Stargate, David Gerrold.
