Ghosts from the Phase One Site:

Navigation

For anyone that remembers the old site, I am reposting the only parts of the Phase One site I still have.  Unfortunately, I cannot remember the dates these posts were originally made.  It was a world away, and a lifetime ago.  The only thing I can be sure of is that they were made between Sept 2000-Dec 2002 before the site fell victim to the Bush economy.

Christians and Hate Crimes

(date uncertain)

What are they so Afraid of?

I have to start by admitting three things about myself.  First I am a Christian; second, I am an ordained minister; and finally, I am a homosexual.  I feel that I have to reveal these things to to you so you will understand where I am coming from.

Today, I listened to a show where a group of "Christians" were spouting out a large quantity of propaganda and fear about the growing number of hate crimes laws that that are sprouting up around the country.  Their argument is that hate crimes laws will stop Christians from being able to preach their deep held convictions.  They are ignoring the essential fact that hate crimes laws require that a crime be committed before the laws come into effect.  Hate Crimes legislation does not punish thought but motivation for crime.

We already make distinctions between motivations for crimes.  Motive is the distinguishing difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree murder and manslaughter.  The motivation behind a hate crime is hate, and HATE IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!  It deserves to be punished harsher than any other crime!  Hate Crimes are not crimes against an individual, they are crimes against a segment of the population!

Hate crimes laws should protect us against crimes based on gender, race, religion, profession, sexual orientation, and sexual identity.  We must never ignore crimes perpetrated against any of these segments of the population, they are  crimes against humanity in general!

If you have no intention of committing a crime against any of these groups of people, there is nothing to worry about.  But is you do intend to bomb, beat, rape, or kill people from any of these segments of the population, than Hate Crimes laws are pointed at you.

So what is all of the opposition to Hate Crimes Legislation really about?

The God Candidate

(date uncertain)

The Greatest Form of arrogance...

The Greatest form of arrogance that exists in this world is  presuming to know the will of God!  I am getting sick and tired of turning on "Christian" television and hearing these people claiming that George W Bush is the candidate that God wants in the office of president.  While none, that I have heard have said this in a direct way, the endless innuendo is driving me crazy!

The amount of peer pressure that these so-called ministers are putting on their flocks is unbelievable!!  First of all, I do have my own opinion about the election, and who I would like to see win, but the issue is that God has not chosen!  I am sure that God has an opinion, but NO ONE KNOWS THE WILL OF GOD BUT GOD!!!  God is not a Republican or a Democrat!  And the idea that I should vote a certain way because I am Christian is ludicrous!  More should go into the decision than just abortion!

Please stop with all of the peer pressure, a minister should not sound like a drug dealer!

The Boy Scouts

(date uncertain)

Drop the Boy Scouts Shtick!!!

I know that some people love to show off their "moral superiority" over others, but all of this poor defenseless Boy Scouts Shtick is really wearing thin!  From my own experience I know the the most devious and deviant people I have ever met were either in the scouts or were scouts as children, so I have never seen all of the great things that people claim the scouts instill in others.  That is not to say that all scouts are horrible people, but all of the ones that I have met were.

Having said that, we really need to get one thing plain and clear:  The Boy Scout are not under attack for their policy against Homosexuals!  The issue is whether or not the government or other charitable organizations should support a group that have discriminatory practices.  If this was the Klu Klux Klan, their would be no controversy.  I know that the Boy Scouts are not a superiority organization, but they do discriminate against part of the population.  This is not about punishing the scouts, it is about where tax payer and charitable money should go.

Personally, I do not want my money going to this organization, and I have the right to say that and make it happen.  Please everybody, try to stay on topic and stop trying to make things into something diplorable when they are not!

Fear beyond Fear

(date uncertain)

Darkness covers my Eyes

I have never felt the kinds of sorrow that I have felt recently.  It was like a wolf ripping at my soul, trying to kill me.  If my soul could bleed, I know that it was.  Memories of all of the people that I have loved and lost have been circling through our head.  The pain can be immeasurable.  Anger, hate and fear were soon on me.  How could I ever trust again?  Why should I ever look out of myself to others?  Why should I even care about people anymore?

That was the epiphany that tore through me like light through an opening door into a dark room.  Nothing matters.  The past is the past.  I can never recapture those lost moment of peace and serenity.  All I can do is look forward.  I have to leave them all behind me and move forward.  If they do not want to have a part in my life, then so be it.  Why should I suffer for their choice?

Freedom is something that we claim to hold so near and dear to our hearts, yet we so often trap ourselves in the past that should just be left behind.  Freedom is the release from the stains of the past.  We all must dream of the future.  We all must look ahead for the next challenge that we can overcome until the day that we need nothing to be satisfied because our souls have been repaired.

The more I fought through this gloom that had embraced me, the more I realized that I don't matter either.  After remembering all of the pain that these thoughtless people had left in my life, how could I dare to do the same to others?  I cannot keep running around doing what I want, and hurting who knows how many people the same way that I have been hurt.

If they will not change, then I have to change.  I have to strive everyday not to harm those that I meet.  I have to resolve to be patient and understanding.  Who knows...  Maybe this idea will spread.  Maybe the cycle of pain can be ended.  Maybe there is hope after all.
